The Shaker Religion has many different names for themselves. Some of which are called the United Society of Believers
in Christ's Second Appearing, the Millenial Church, the Children of Truth, and also the Alethians. Alethians came from the
Greek word, truth. The Shakers original name derived from the words the "Shaking Quakers."
The Shakers founders was husband and wife ministers named James and Jane Wardley. It all first appeared
in 1750 in Manchester England. The group itself the Shakers broke off from a mainstream religion called the Quakers and went
there seperate ways from the Quaker church, and came across a group of preachers and or miracle workers called the "French
Prophets."
Similar to the Quakers, the Shakers would sit in silent meditation, waiting to be "moved by the spirit," only the
there response to the spirtual power was to shake violenty while spinning and dancing. The Shakers believed that the Christ's
second coming would be to come as a woman, and also that all human beings were the children of God, and all should be treated
equally regardless of sex, race, education, or whealth. They also believed that the Holy Spirit descended on them in the form
of "tongues of fire," which came and rested on each of them and filled them with the Holy spirit making them speak in different
forms of tongues, as the spirit enabled them to to proclaim,
